Position Summary: Will be responsible for conducting preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs associated with production packaging equipment in the BG production facility, including; seamers, fillers, coders, conveyors, can depalletizers, palletizers and carton packers/erectors. Must plan, layout, install, and repair complex wiring circuits and distribution systems. Troubleshoot, and install various PROGRAMABLE LOGISTICS CONTROL (PLC’s) driven programs, maintain networks/automated batching systems and provide technical assistance when needed. Key Tasks & Responsibilities • Consult with customers, supervisors, or engineers to plan layout of equipment or to resolve problems in system operation or maintenance. • Inspect components of industrial equipment for accurate assembly and installation or for defects, such as loose connections or frayed wires. • Develop or modify industrial electronic devices, circuits, or equipment, according to available specifications. • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks such as checking, cleaning, or repairing equipment to detect and prevent problems. • Repair or adjust equipment, machines, or defective components, replacing worn parts, such as gaskets or seals in watertight electrical equipment. • Advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, or suggestions for product improvements. • Calibrate testing instruments and install or repair equipment to specifications. • Coordinate efforts with other workers involved in installing or maintaining equipment components. • Determine feasibility of using standardized equipment or develop specifications for equipment required to perform additional functions. • Examine work orders and converse with equipment operators to detect equipment problems and to ascertain whether mechanical or human errors contributed to the problems. • Use a laptop computer and Rockwell PLC software to perform repairs on PLC’s and automated controls. • Maintain equipment logs that record performance problems, repairs, calibrations, or tests. • Test faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test equipment software and applying knowledge of the functional operation of electronic units and systems. • Support packaging department and work with IT to resolve network issues with industrial equipment, modems, routers, run cabling, profibus, print and apply thermal labeling systems, ink jet and laser printing, batching systems, valve actuators, servo motors and motor actuators. • Knowledge of bottling line logic programming, electrical, sensors, fiber optics, scales, vision systems, cameras, PM’s. • Properly perform all necessary/routine maintenance tasks to production lines. • Support vision systems and server motor actuator controlled container orientation system. • Will work overtime and other duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Technical degree in related field, Siemens PLC and AutoCAD experience preferred. The candidate must have at least 5 years of experience working in related field with Allen Bradley PLC’s, Rockwell PLC software, Panel views, HMIS’s and associated automation controls. Skills: • Repairing - Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools. • Quality Control Analysis - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance. • Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly. • Troubleshooting - Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it. • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. • Equipment Maintenance - Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem. Work Environment: Office duties will be performed in a well-lighted, climate-controlled environment. Plant duties will be performed both outside and in an indoor environment without air conditioning and with minimal heating.
